“We are lucky to be able to contribute to this green and sustainable project,” says Department Manager for Omega 365 Solutions in Bergen, Jarle Gjerde.

Despite Omega 365 Solutions having been involved in several sustainable and environmentally friendly projects, battery production is still a new industry for the company.

“Investments in the green shift are increasing. It is important that we are involved early in the processes so that we can contribute and have a role in this development,” Gjerde believes.

Green battery production

FREYR Battery has commenced building the first of its planned factories in Mo i Rana, Norway. FREYR aims to provide industrial scale clean battery solutions to reduce global emissions. The company intends to deliver up to 43 GWh of battery cell production capacity by 2025 and up to 83 GWh annual capacity by 2028, positioning FREYR as one of Europe’s largest battery cell suppliers.

Omega 365 Solutions will provide FREYR with Pims modules for both project management and project implementation.

“FREYR Battery`s choice of project management system was decided after an internal procurement process,” explains Gjerde.

“This shows that we have a good reputation in the market, and that after 30 years as a system supplier we have good experience of what works well,” he believes.

Broad implementation

Omega 365 Solutions entered into an agreement with FREYR Battery on December 10, 2021. Within a few days, the first users of the system were active. By the end of February, the first module was up and running. The plan is to integrate many more Pims modules for the company throughout 2022.

“Here, for example, users will utilize Document Control, Completion, and Interface Management. This is a broad implementation of Pims modules that we have a lot of experience with. We work closely across departments to find the right solutions for our clients,” suggests Gjerde.

“This assignment also helps to strengthen our department in Bergen, both in terms of building competence and building a larger team,” says Gjerde and points out that the department in Bergen currently has 15 employees. He also emphasizes that the department will hire more employees in 2022 and is committed to continued growth.
