Pims Projects: Increased registration of LCI

With a simple change of focus, from documentation to equipment, Omega has significantly increased clients’ registrations of Life Cycle Information (LCI).

Life Cycle Information

  • LCI means the preparation of a document containing data for the user’s operation and maintenance system.
  • The purpose of the documentation is to establish a basis for the continuous maintenance of a building’s properties throughout its life.

Roger Arnesen is the Product Manager for Pims 365 and works with project management and project control for the construction industry. Omega assists clients in the collection of LCI, and Arnesen explains that changing their focus from documentation to equipment has significantly increased the registration rate regarding this kind of documentation.

“We are working on projects today that has defined close to sixty thousand requirements, and have managed to deliver just under fifty thousand, which is an unusually high number in this industry,” Arnesen says.

The process of collecting LCI usually starts with a review of a project’s models and drawings, to identify which equipment is to be included. In buildings that are already built, the existing equipment must be assessed and marked as accurately as possible. Based on this process, the contractor will receive an overview of the necessary equipment and the requirements associated with that equipment. Roger Arnesen believes this will help make everyday life for contractors easier, and he is very satisfied with the projects Omega has been involved in thus far:

“We have managed to achieve the requirements, to deliver what is required, and to collect the correct data to make the information valuable for operations.”

The collecting of LCI is a service Omega recently started to offer clients, and the product is constantly evolving.

“So far we have received very positive feedback, so I think we are doing something right,” says Roger Arnesen, who was hired as General Manager for Omega’s office in Oslo in 2011.
