Week Two - The need for speed
07.11.05 - 13.11.05

It may be one step forward, two steps back for Richard regarding the work at hand, but when it comes to the bobsleigh teams at Olympic Park it's full speed ahead…at over 130km/h! Let's hope Richard manages to confine himself to the cold comfort of the grandstand!

So another week has flown by. Where do they go?!

On the work front, we made a step forward this week, as the project came on board with how important it was to get the completion/start-up sequence and schedule established, (an important area that has been lacking up until now).

On the negative side, the EPCM contractor announced that they require an additional three months to complete the project. This can really be taken as the minimum extra they require, as this is just the extra time they need to complete outstanding construction man-hours, because without a start-up schedule they cannot have a full overview.

Outside of the project, this Friday was Thanksgiving in Calgary as well as Remembrance Day, with the usual services at War Memorials.

This weekend also saw the Calgary Cup, the FIBT World Bobsleigh and Skeleton Tour competition at Calgary's Olympic Park…so, I caught myself a taxi and braved the -8°C cold, to watch the four-man crews hurtle down the track at speeds in excess of 130km/h in a bobsleigh. Competition was hot, as crews prepare this season to compete for the Olympic title in Torino, in February 2006.
