TeamDocuments redesigned

Published: 16.03.09

As you now can see from logging into our intranet, TeamDocuments has been revamped with a navbar-brand new look. The changes are not only visual, however, there are also major upgrades under the hood.

Visible changes

TeamDocuments applications are now based on Appframe R3 Web, a framework geared towards rich web applications and a broader use of third-party components. Some of the improvements most visible to the user includes:

  • New menu layout – simplified and restructured menus are now located above the main window
  • New Home Page when you log in – contains your calendars, tasks and a personal note function for quick access to basic information
  • Increased browser compatibility (works in Internet Explorer 6/7/8, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari etc.)

Web applications, such as My Advantage, Personnel Locator, Timesheet and Travel Expenses, have been rewritten to the new framework, and may look slightly different. The functionality has not been changed, however, and they should work just like before.

There are also a number of improvements on the technical side of things. These may not be visible to the end user, but contribute to making TeamDocuments a flexible and robust tool:

  • Built on Telerik control package
  • Accesslayer implemented all over
  • Theming support – clients who would like a different look and feel may apply themes to TeamDocuments

Appframe R3 Web also makes the Web application development easier, with a new deployment concept, a set of Appframe Controls and a similar development environment as in CR3.
